Spankings were the order of the day. My mom spanked my brother
Charlie and me with her hand. My dad used a belt. My neighbour

Did you get into trouble?
At Latchmere, I was mostly
well-behaved, but could get very cross and lose my temper. A
friend having to nurse her sick mother was weeping in the
toilets, so I cuddled her and tried to do my best. We were late
back to the classroom, so the teacher shouted at us. I screamed
that he was being entirely unfair; all the other kids froze,
because in those days you had the cane.

door of her locker and devoted her time to the Rudy Trudies, a
club whose sole mission was to go out and find naughty pictures.

I feared my father. He was
a strict disciplinarian. He would spank me on my bare behind, for
punishment. He would make me wait for the punishment, which was
worse then the painful spankings. I was a quiet, obedient, child.
I can't imagine myself doing anything that warranted that severe
of a punishment. It embarrassed, and humiliated me to take down
my pants for the spanking.
Karen
Vanderlaan - In her book, Show and Tell, the
American writer said the following: Page 29
As busy as he was,
dad never ran out of time to care for us. During the years we

think CP needs to be reintroduced to schools. The rule over the
knuckle, and over the calfs, the cane on the bottom, and the

threw snowballs in the playground any more after being punished
for it!"

Boarding school? Yuck! I was born
in New York and came to India when I was 11. I joined boarding
school and it was a culture shock for me. My school was too high
on discipline and I couldn't handle that. When it became too
much, I just ran away from school when I was in class XI. I was
caught and caned, but the second time -- after planning my escape
for 3 months -- I got lucky! My parents had no option but to put
me in British School, which I didn't find claustrophobic.

wooden board-rubber. Not singing hymns in tune resulted in a
whole-class caning."

Maeve
Friel - The Irish author received corporal
punishment for misbehaviour at school.
http://www.lumcloon.net/schoolmem/schoolmem.html
I managed to get through my whole
primary schooling without being caned - until my last year.
We were doing the eleven plus exam to go to secondary school so
we were always being given tests. One day we were doing a maths
test and the girl in front of me moved her paper over to show me
that she was stuck at one question. I wrote the answer on a
corner of a page and was about to pass it on when Miss McGill
swooped down on me. I stuffed the paper into my pocket.
"Empty that pocket!" she yelled, hairy wart quivering
at the end of her nose. I guiltily put the paper (and a bit of
bottom-of-pocket fluff) on the desk. The long and the short of it
was that she jumped to the conclusion that I had been given the
"cog", tore up my maths test and gave me "six of
the best".
I can still remember the terrible
hot stinging pain and feel how the palms of my hands became
bright red and swollen. I also remember feeling that it was very
unfair - and I still do to this day.
Miriam Stoppard - The British
agony aunt/tv personality mentioned in a newspaper article that
she received corporal punishment while growing up. she commented:
"I was raised with the Victorian value of sparing the rod
spoils the child."
Myriam Marquez - The
American Journalist, writing about the subject of spanking,
Orlando Sentinel, April 13th, 1998.
When old-timers tell me that
sparing the rod will spoil the child, I understand where they're
coming from -- that's how I was reared. But a key difference in
the old ways and the spanking that occurs too often today is
measured decorum.
In the old days, a mother or father
would take a child into the woodshed for a spanking, and there
was a ritualistic, measured attitude to the punishment. Usually,
the child was made to wait several hours after the bad behavior,
anticipating the hurt to come from the spanking.
Nyki Hades - The
up-and-coming British artist, also known as Ecliptic Blue &
Moodville, raised and educated in Wales, now based in Kansas,

demonstrate his famous dance moves.

and with an attentive audience. When he finally put me down, he

intense, so authoritative, yet so caring.
Pat would never cry; when she did
as a child, her daddy only spanked her harder.
Once, when she found out the
players had an all-night party, she ran them till they puked.
Penny Junor - In the book,
Around my Father, which the British broadcaster/writer/journalist
wrote about her father, the well known former national newspaper
editor, John Junor, she mentioned on page 3, "He only
spanked me twice that I can remember."
Polly Graham - In
an article about some of her celebrity memories, The Mirror,
November 11, 2001, the British journalist recalled a time when
Oasis singer Liam Gallagher gave her a spanking when they met at
a Premier. The following text is from the article.
Nothing could have prepared for
what came next. Liam grabbed me and started spanking my bottom.
The 27-year-old neanderthal fumed:
"I've seen what you write. You've already called me
ugly." Holding me by the scruff of my neck and repeatedly
slapping me, he stormed: "I'm going to smack your bum until
it hurts.
"You need a good slapping,
girl. You won't forget this in a long time. Call the police if
you want. Go on, call the cops. Go on, I dare you."
I still have the imprint of his
hairy hand on my bottom to this day.
